Three individuals accused of duping actor Vivek Oberoi of Rs 1.55 crore; case filed against them

On Friday, police reported that Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi fell victim to an alleged scam where three individuals convinced him to invest Rs 1.55 crore in an event and film production company, promising lucrative returns. However, the accused trio, including a film producer, misappropriated the funds for personal gain.

The incident came to light when the actor’s chartered accountant filed a complaint against the three suspects at the MIDC police station in Andheri east on Wednesday. The complainant revealed that the accused were business partners of the actor who lured him into the investment scheme.

It was disclosed that Vivek Oberoi’s wife was also a partner in the firm. A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the three culprits under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 34 (common intention), 409 (criminal breach of trust), 419 (cheating by personation), and 420 (cheating).

The investigation into the matter is currently underway.
